Upholstery Tack Strips are flexible cardboard or metal strips used to secure fabric in place and create smooth clean edges without visible fasteners such as staples. Create a concealed seam by placing the tacking strip over the underside of a folded straight edge of fabric and tack it into place when the fabric is folded back over to hide the fasteners.
Upholsters use tack strips on the outside of arms and backs of furniture to efficiently achieve a professional smooth, finished edge, eliminating the need for hand sewing.
